Full-Body Model

A full-body model is a talent captured from head to toe, essential for showcasing total outfit styling, silhouette, and garment movement in professional e-commerce imagery.

A Full-Body Model (often referred to as a comprehensive figure model) is professional talent captured from head to toe within a single frame. This approach is fundamental in e-commerce and retail photography to demonstrate the complete silhouette, garment draping, and movement dynamics of an outfit. At JU Productions, we utilize full-body modeling across our Catalog photography and Scheduled Lookbook® services to provide consumers with a clear understanding of product fit and scale.

For brands utilizing our global intake model—shipping products to our hubs in Singapore, the United States, or China—full-body shots serve as the primary visual anchor. Whether it is a high-energy Mini-campaign for activewear or a structured corporate wear shoot, capturing the entire form allows for the 'Complete the Outfit' strategy, encouraging higher average order values (AOV) by showing how different pieces interact together.

Why It Matters

Full-body imagery is a critical conversion driver in fashion and retail. It reduces customer uncertainty regarding length, fit, and styling, which directly leads to lower return rates. By seeing a product on a human form from top to bottom, shoppers can better visualize themselves in the garment, bridging the gap between digital browsing and physical ownership.

Examples

  • A sportswear Mini-campaign featuring a model in a full compression suit to show muscle mapping and movement.
  • A luxury Scheduled Lookbook® showcasing a floor-length evening gown to illustrate drape and hemline flow.
  • Standardized Catalog photography for a footwear brand where the model wears a full outfit to provide context for the shoes.

How to Apply

When requesting full-body shots at JU Productions, ensure your 'Complete the Outfit' list is finalized. Provide our styling team with specific instructions on footwear and accessories, as every element from the head to the floor will be visible. Consider the model's height and proportions relative to your target demographic to ensure the 'Total Look' resonates with your audience.

Common Mistakes

  • Clipped Limbs: Accidentally cropping out feet or the top of the head in post-production, which looks unprofessional.
  • Poor Footwear Choices: Using distracting or off-brand shoes that draw attention away from the primary garment.
  • Lens Distortion: Using wide-angle lenses too close to the model, which distorts the natural proportions of the body.

Pro Tip

When shooting full-body, use a lens with a focal length of at least 50mm to 85mm and shoot from a slightly lower angle (waist height). This avoids the 'keystone effect' where the head appears disproportionately large compared to the feet, ensuring the product silhouette remains true to life.
